DAD - is the word

This Covid year has taught me to be grateful for so many things I have had and all that I have earned.

This Father’s Day and every other day from December 9th, 2018, (I Started calling you DAD) I want to thank the man who became my Father by choice. Of course, I am not making it up, you did STEP UP.

THANK YOU FOR NEVER GIVING UP.

I remember what a brat I was in my younger days that you witnessed, and I know it couldn’t have been easy to deal with me, especially with my lows and then every inch of me after I got married.

Your persistence and determination have not gone unnoticed. I probably deserved you, to write me off long ago, but you refused to give up. Thank you for always loving me.

CHEERS FOR ALWAYS BELIEVING YOU ARE and WILL BE MY DAD, NO MATTER WHAT.

I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to tell you that you weren’t my real dad, the entire world around us did, and they always will., but you are, you always will till my last breath.

“Real” isn’t determined by DNA. You’re the one that’s been there and supported me in my core life of adulting. Thanks for never believing you weren’t related by blood. I finally came around and understood; I really appreciate your patience while I learned those lessons, at the cost of almost losing you every time.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL SUPPORT

How gracious that you prayed for me from before sun up to after sundown to support me and turn me into the woman I am while I’m not even “yours”, is when I thought.

How selfless that you gave your time to put me through lessons, no dad on earth would sit for, to take me with you on your memorable family travels only to teach the connections, bonds, and how to nurture them. To forgive patiently and to forget easily and to every critical necessity you provided our family with.

THANK YOU FOR THE EMOTIONAL STRENGTH

As I’ve gotten older, during all the mile markers and challenges in my life. In my important events and most importantly my marriage, your presence was everything a DAUGHTER could ever wish for. You helped me learn to FEEL my FEELINGS, but CHANNEL my ENERGY. From my darkest to the brightest, you’ve been a constant paternal presence, providing guidance, support, and love consistently. The fortunate fact is, there have been other good men that I knew who tried stepping into that role, but it was only you who modeled what a MAN and FATHER stand for.

THANK YOU FOR SHOWING WHAT A FATHER LOOKS LIKE.

I can’t thank you enough for showing me what a father looks and acts like when I almost lost faith in the word DAD.

You’ve been raising us to be confident, contended women, and you’ve taught us how to raise children loving and pleasing GOD and how to only LOVE unconditionally. Your love is unwavering and unceasing.

THANK YOU FOR RESPECTING MY MOM and BEING AN EXAMPLE OF LOVE

Thank you for respecting her the way she deserves to be loved and respected. Your support in her beliefs and encouragement in her pursuit is more than satisfying. You’ve shown my mom grace, respect, and kindness, and you’ve shown me how a gentleman acts and fights for what matters.

You’re the most influential and wonderful man in my life.

P.S. You have earned me, to being my DAD
